Long term ESC project in Spain

All the activities of Youth Service of Majadahonda (Majadahonda Joven) are based on the principles of non-formal education. The organization promotes active participation, creativity, personal autonomy, intercultural learning, and the development of skills that help young people become active citizens and integrate successfully into their communities.

About Youth Service of Majadahonda

Majadahonda Joven is the Youth Service of the City Council of Majadahonda (Madrid, Spain). Its mission is to improve the quality of life of young people by responding to their needs and interests in the fields of information, participation, culture, non-formal education, healthy lifestyles, international mobility, technology, and leisure.

The activities take place at the Príncipe de Asturias Youth Center, which hosts a wide range of services for young people, including the Youth Information Office, the Office for International Programmes (OPIM), Majadahonda TECH, youth participation programmes, training in leisure and non-formal education, cultural workshops, and community activities.

Available Vacancies:

Vacancy 1: Support to the Office for International Programmes (OPIM)

The Office for International Programmes (OPIM) promotes international mobility opportunities for young people through the European Solidarity Corps, Erasmus+, workcamps, internships, language courses, and other international programmes.

The volunteer will support young people interested in international experiences by helping to promote mobility opportunities, preparing information materials, participating in presentations and workshops, and assisting young people with searching for volunteering, study, work, and training opportunities abroad. The volunteer will also contribute to communication activities and support the organization of events and activities at the Youth Center.

Vacancy 2: Support to Digital Communication and Majadahonda TECH

The volunteer will contribute to the visibility and promotion of the Youth Center through digital communication and creative content production. They will support the creation of social media content, photography, videos, promotional campaigns, posters, and other communication materials.

The volunteer will also participate in Majadahonda TECH, a programme promoting technological culture, innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital skills among young people. Activities may include supporting projects such as Technovation Girls and CoderDojo Club, encouraging young people to explore programming, technology, and innovation.

Vacancy 3: Support to Youth Participation Projects in Secondary Schools

The volunteer will support projects aimed at young people aged 12–17 in local secondary schools. Activities include service-learning projects, volunteering initiatives, youth participation programmes, debate activities, educational sessions, and projects focused on values and active citizenship.

The volunteer will assist with the preparation and implementation of activities, accompany young participants during projects, support dissemination and visibility actions, and help motivate young people to become actively involved in community initiatives.

Activities shared by all volunteers:

  • Supporting English conversation workshops and language-related activities for young people.
  • Promoting the European Solidarity Corps, Erasmus+, and other international opportunities.
  • Participating in youth events, leisure activities, awareness campaigns, and local volunteering initiatives.
  • Creating visibility and promotional materials, including photos, videos, posters, presentations, social media content, and articles.
  • Supporting the organization and implementation of activities at the Youth Center.
  • Writing blog posts and sharing experiences as ESC volunteers.
  • Creating a final video about the volunteering experience in Majadahonda.
  • Developing and implementing a personal project based on the volunteer’s interests, skills, and learning objectives.
  • Collaborating with youth workers and other volunteers in the daily life of the Youth Center.

Volunteer profile:

We are looking for volunteers who are proactive, open-minded, creative, flexible, responsible, and interested in non-formal education and youth work. Good communication and teamwork skills are important. Motivation to work with young people and willingness to actively participate in community life are highly valued.

For international volunteers, a good level of English is desirable, especially for English conversation activities. Interest in international mobility, youth participation, social media, photography, video production, technology, innovation, and digital communication will be considered an advantage. Volunteers should also be motivated to learn Spanish and integrate into the local community.

Working conditions:

  • 30–35 hours per week.
  • Activities mainly take place in the afternoons and evenings.
  • Two free days per week.
  • Some activities may occasionally take place during weekends.
  • Two holiday days per month, plus local and national holidays.
  • Accommodation provided in Majadahonda.
