Long-term volunteering in Greece – Think like European – Act locally in Greece – is a joint project of our foundation and the United Societies of Balkans. The project is financed by the European Commission under the European Solidarity Corps Program .

A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE HOST ORGANIZATION
„United Societies of Balkans (U.S.B.) is a non-profit, non-governmental
organization based in Thessaloniki, Greece, working in the field of youth mobility,
participation and promoting youth awareness of social issues. It was founded in
2008 by the initiative of a group of active young people who wanted to address
the social issues which affect the youngsters in the Balkans and Eastern Europe.,
so it needs to be flexible, meaningful, and consistent enough for future issues.”

VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES
- Supporting social activities
- Cooperative projects with local organizations, schools and institutions
- Empower kids, youngsters and women from vulnerable backgrounds, through
workshops - Support creative events for awareness in human rights
- Participation in local festivals
- Monitoring through videos production, storytelling record
- Support the social media of the organization
- Inform youngsters and the public about volunteering and the European Solidarity
Corps
The volunteers work from Monday to Friday, for a maximum of 35 hours per week.
VOLUNEER’S PROFILE
The selection of the participants is mostly based on their motivation and personal
interest in the topics of the project and the activities of the hosting organisation.
They must be ready to work in a team and to share their daily life with people from
different backgrounds. Participants should have a clear interest in volunteering.
The educational or professional background of the participants won’t be a
prerequisite. At least a basic knowledge of English is required, for the
implementation of the tasks as well as to facilitate everyday communication.
