Volunteering – step to the future in Rybnik – project testimony

Volunteering – step to the future – Anton’s testimony of the project

For 6 months I left the place that I know like the back of my hand and changed it for a (for me) completely unknown place. Under the title of the project „Volunteering – step to the future“ I stayed in the beautiful town of Rybnik in the Silesian region.

My hosting organization was Zabytkowa Kopalnia Ignacy (Historical Mine Ignatius). It is a former hard coal mine that is now a museum and a cultural centre. It is a wonderful place where a lot of different events take place and different people come together. I provided english lessons for children and seniors and helped with office duties and event-preparation. Thanks to the amazing people who work there, everyday at the museum was a good day and the tasks to do were so much easier to complete because of the nice environment.

Besides the work I discovered the region and the culture. I learned so many new things and got to know so many new people. It was really an enriching experience. I am very thankful for the opportunity to take part in this project.

The summarise article and presentation was prepared by our first volunteer from Germany – Anton Merkel !

Thank you for your amazing the participation in the European Solidarity Coprs volunteering project! All the best!
