“Picture it – Build Your Future” was a project implemented in 2022-2024 as part of the European Solidarity Corps Program. Let’s sum up the mobility hosted in Poland.
A few words about the project
Picture it – Build Your Future is a project financed by the European Commission under the European Solidarity Corps – Volunteering Programme.
The project was the result of cooperation between partner organizations – Fundacja Rozwoju Społeczeństwa Przedsiębiorczego from Poland and:
- Pi Youth Association from Turkey;
- Fundació Catalunya Voluntària from Spain
- UMBRELLA from Georgia
- CHABIBEH SPORTING CLUB from Lebanon
As part of the project, a number of mobilities took place in Poland, in the Silesian Voivodeship, in several different host organizations, which were:
Throughout their time in Poland, our volunteers have made significant contributions, each bringing their unique talents and enthusiasm to the various activities they engaged in.
Linda’s Contributions (A4): Linda took a proactive role in the Miedźna commune, running an English Club every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the hall of the Municipal Cultural Center. She organized engaging library workshops for children on a range of topics, including Halloween, forest animals, and spooky things. Her sessions at the kindergarten introduced children to different cultures, particularly through presentations about her home country.
Linda was also responsible for managing GOK’s Instagram account, designing posters for her workshops using Canva, and supporting GOK staff in organizing and managing events such as Women’s Feasts, the Recitation Tournament, Silesian Evening, and Santa Claus. Her dedication extended to learning Polish through the EU Academy platform and through conversations with GOK employees. Notable workshops led by Linda included Georgian cuisine sessions on March 14, 2024, named khachapuri and on April 24, 2024, focusing on badridzhani.
Joan and Nino’s Impact (A6) : Joan and Nino made a remarkable impact through their involvement in kindergarten and school activities. Nino’s first event was a comprehensive workshop about Georgia, covering its culture, geography, language, cuisine, and national costumes. The children and teenagers had the chance to interact with Nino, ask questions, and learn about Georgian traditions, including the art of making traditional wine vessels from plasticine. Similar workshops were conducted for younger children, further enriching their understanding of Georgian culture. Joan focused on Spain, delivering presentations about Catalonia and its unique traditions. Students learned about the Devil’s Parade and notable Catalonian figures, gaining a deeper appreciation for the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Once of their activities includes supporting the kindergarten, where they accompanied the children in their daily activities, helped them get dressed, put food on their table, cleaned up after their activities, went with them outside for a walk or to the playground, etc. They also played short games with them to help them immerse themselves in the English language.
Nihal and Marina’s Engagement (A7): Nihal and Marina dedicated their efforts to a range of activities, including weekly sports sessions for grade 6 students. They were involved in preparing decorations for Christmas and autumn, assisting with gingerbread baking workshops, and supporting the Day of Languages and volunteer day events. They also organized integration games for the carnival ball and conducted individual cooking classes in Turkish cuisine. Their contribution extended to promoting Turkish culture through weekly music and movement games in kindergarten, incorporating English elements, and preparing introductory games.
Our volunteers have truly exemplified dedication and creativity in their roles, contributing to a vibrant and culturally enriched environment. We are grateful for their hard work and the positive impact they have made during their time in Poland.
