Sunsets are proof that ENDINGS can be beautiful too!
Cześć readers It is Tamuna again and today is at the same time sad and happy day as my amazing project is over. As I am thinking and reflecting on my past 10 month I wonder what marks our time? If one life can really make an impact on the world… or if the choices we make matter? I believe they do. And I believe that one man can change many lives. Most of our lives are a series of images, they pass us by like towns on a highway. But sometimes a moment stuns us as it happens, and we know that this instant is more than a fleeting image. We know that this moment, every part of it, will live on forever. My volunteering journey was full with such moments that will live in my heart forever…
As you already know, I worked as a volunteer in Poland as part of the European Solidarity Corps Volunteering Project: Empowering regions throw volunteering – in Gok office.I worked in three areas, namely: In the education direction – I conducted courses in English and Russian; In the culture direction – I participated in different kinds of work of local cultural centres; And in the entrepreneurship direction – I participate in the daily office work of GOK. This experience helped me to develop professionally, as I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of teaching to different learning surroundings, and personally.
During my 10 month I took part in different events, classes and workshops such as:
Conducting English and Russian language lessons for the citizens of village Wola – Every Monday I had the opportunity to teach amazing people langauges English (pre-intermediate level) and Russian (basic level)
Creating videos for the project “Monday with Tamuna” – Shooting educational videos on the topics of handcrafts, traditional Georgian dance, arts and etc.
Conducting fun lessons during summer camp – During two month I took part in the implementation of different events for kids ( arts of decoupage, English with games, theater play and many other)
Sharing my Georgian culture – Together with other volunteers I tried to share information about my beautiful country by cooking different national dishes (khachapuri, khinkali, Gozinaki) and writing articles about Georgia.
The list is incomplete as my journey was fulled with different interesting activities that helped me to develop life long skills. I learned a lot about myself, about communications and in my opinion became better version of myself.
Today I want to use this opportunity to thank amazing people who made my volunteering project happen – Natalia and Marcin Germanek (FRSP organization), Joanna Stawowy with whole team of Gok and my amazing friends from different parts of the world. I already miss and love you all. It’s hard when you miss people. But you know if you miss them, that means you’re lucky. It means you had someone special in your life, someone worth missing.
So to sum up, don’t be afraid of change or to make mistakes, to stumble and fall, cause most of the time, the greatest rewards come from doing the things that scare you the most. Maybe you’ll get everything you wish for. Maybe you’ll get more than you ever could have imagined. Who knows where life will take you. The road is long and in the end, the journey is the destination. So become a volunteer, meet amazing people, develop yourself, learn new languages and be proud of yourself.
