What does the host organisation do?
The Oczami Brata Foundation was founded on 16 January 2014 and is dedicated to Karol Bilski, the late brother of the founder and president of the organisation. The mission of the organisation is to look at the world ‘through the eyes of a brother’, ‘through the eyes of people with disabilities’.
The Foundation implements an original programme to achieve independence for people with disabilities by running, among others, an Occupational Therapy Workshop, an Art Therapy Workshop, housing, including assisted and sheltered housing for adults with disabilities. We have established a Social Cooperative, which runs the Alternatywa 21 clubhouse and the Alternatywa 21 café, which employs people with disabilities. We carry out a number of activities to animate and support the local community, e.g. through the project ‘AKTON activation of people with disabilities’, cultural activities such as the ‘Oczami Brata’ Theatre, the project ‘(Nie)pełnosprawni aktywni kulturalnie’, the Częstochowa Everest, a series of workshops entitled DOWN-LOVE, the Alternative Culture Festival.
The team of the Foundation is made up of people with training, knowledge and experience in social work, counselling and support for elderly and disabled people and the chronically ill.
