RECEIVING ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
The Sport and Social Promotion Association “L’Orma” is a no-profit organization active since more than ten years in the field of physical activity exploited as an educational and self-development tool besieds an instrument of communication, relationship, fun, learning, growth, knowledge and well-being for young people. The permanent staff is composed by 5 persons that coordinates every year more than 100 educators, developing different initiatives declined in sport, physical and artistic expression (theatre and musical performance arrangements) and playful-recreational education activities.
The organization implements its activities through education and motion laboratories in schools (addressed differently both to teachers and students), through conciliation initiatives for families in public spaces, parks and sport centers, and through free-time events such as summer and holidays camps.
Its main partners are local authorities such as the Municipality of Milan and Lodi, the Trento, Milan, Monza-Brianza and Lodi Provinces, Lombardy region and private organizations like the ATM Foundation and the Croce d’oro (Golden Cross).
Overall, during its more than ten years experience, „L’Orma” has involved 380 schools, 940 teachers, more than 34,000 children and 67,000 parents, designing and implementing more than 1200 educational and sport initiatives.
The social impact of its activities falls in the spheres of well-being and education of young through their engagement in multidisciplinary sport and training activities, and in the support to local authorities in involving young people from disadvantaged groups of the population.
The volunteers will be an integral part of L’ORMA European division regarding planning, writing and implementing projects related to sport, social inclusion and integration of children and youth and migrants. The volunteers will:
– Plan and write European Project proposal
– Learn about L’ORMA and Italian not-for-profit sector
– be involved in the regular multi-sport and theatre activities of the organization in the schools, alongside our coaches
– Run English conversation classes for primary and secondary school students
– Take an active role in organising L’ORMA events at international and national levels
– Run a personal project – Actively seek opportunities to get involved at the international and local level
– Blog about their experience
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Accomodation will be provided in shared rooms with all the basic facilities: bathroom, kitchen and fully furnished. The location will be as close as possible to the office. The volunteers will be provided with bicycles – the most practical means of transportation in the traffic congested town. The association has a vehicle as well which can be use in rare occasions. Alternatively to bikes, seasonal pass for public transport shall be provided. Volunteers will receive allowance to cover the food and personal expenses.
TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT
Volunteers will join two trainings organized by National Agency in Italy (on-arrival and mid-term) – Volunteers will be provided with Italian language course, – Volunteers will be provided with task-related training
We are searching for a volunteer who:
– is ready to commit him/herself for min 12 months volunteering project
– has interest in writing, communication and marketing
– wants to gain experience in proposals’ implementation/writing and preparation EU programs
– has interest in education and sport
– has very good command of the English language (written & verbal)
– has ability to work effectively as part of a team
