Sustinea is a non-profit association that focuses on sustainable development as an alternative to natural degradation and satisfy local needs. This initiative arises from a group of environmental proffesionals and enthusiasts, who are concerned about the situation in our natural environment, and seek to address these problems providing experience and expertise. Our purpose is the study, dissemination of information and defence of the environment to promote possible and necessary change. We tie together the relationship of humans with nature in a sustainable model, hence resulting in the name of the association. One of our main objectives is to encourage citizen participation and involvement in environmental and social problems, so we offer a range of resources, information and environmental activities. Sustinea is made of a solid and experienced team, able to develop educational activities and constantly communicating and participating with professionals from the environmental education sector. Another important factor is the motivation and the implication that the association has shown as management entity of the environmental education team Espazo de Participación Ambiental Pena Corneira, a fact highly valued by experts as a factor in a project success. Sustinea is an environmental organization that gives special regard to topics like sustainability, environmental and cultural volunteering, environmental education and communication, preservation divulgation and awareness campaigns. Our team uses the education, non-violent direct actions and the promotion of research activities as a way to reach the association goals. In addition
Sustinea is within the management group of the European Network for Environmental Education and Sustainable Development, formed by a large number of people and organizations at European level (mentioned above). In Sustinea we offer to the volunteer a human and associative environment, where the volunteer can obtain and strengthen his skills, working actively with our association in the projects development or in the creation of new ones.
